PIERCINGS AND ALCOHOL – A COMBINATION TO BE AVOIDED

Be aware that this is a very serious topic – alcohol is a highly harmful substance to have present in our system during the healing phase required after performing a piercing. A lot of people might not be aware, but alcohol thins the blood and therefore dramatically increases the risk of bleeding during the first couple of days after getting a piercing. An additional word of caution should be lent to the case of tongue piercings, as in such cases a period of up to two-weeks without alcohol is recommended. So then, if your friends invite you for a night out over the first few days (or even weeks) after getting your piercing, stay off the booze and stick to water, juice or fizzy drin.
