According to the WHO (World Health Organization), in Brazil approximately 80 thousand people die each year from smoking-related diseases. Smoking compromises bloodflow and undermines the respiratory system, proving a potential cause of infection. Nicotine, substance found in cigarettes, can contract the blood vessels and prevent the flow of blood to bodily tissue, causing harm to the healing process. This is of potentially highly significant harm to the human body as it increases the probability of necrosis and affects the natural production of collagen. In order for a successful and healthy healing process to occur, it is important to avoid smoking for a period of 2-3 days.
